Ok...so I have motion sickness and am limited on what I can ride. I recently did Soarin'...while I can do it, I spend most of the time looking at the bottom or sides of the screen. I can do Dinosaur, but if it lasted about a minute longer, I'd be a mess. I can do Test Track...but only because it's a quick ride. Etc...

I decided to go on Slinky Dog the other day. Because I'm a nut. If it wasn't for that brief stop, I would have been ill.

SO, my question is how do Mine Train and Thunder Mountain compare to Slinky? It's been over 25 years since I last rode TM...I seem to remember it was quite fun. I didn't even go on Midway because Slinky took my courage, and I was afraid the spinning would bother me.

Ugh...so any input would be appreciated. It's SO frustrating not being able to do all the rides. Thanks guys. :mickey:

Midway mania is not a coaster. It is a 'shooter' type game. The cars move into a position in front of a game screen and you shoot at targets...You shift 5 or 6 times to different screens and those shifts may be quick with the car turning into position quickly, but the whole thing is flat. Not much real 'spinning', just the car turning to the correct screen for the next game.

Maybe some Bonine would help -- pill or patch. If you started to get ill on Slinky Dog, maybe TMRR and/or 7DMT are not for you.

I agree that based on your description, Mine Train and TMRR might not be for you. I'd say TMRR is probably a bit worse for you than Mine Train. I hope you might be able to find something to help you with the motion issues so you can enjoy some of these attractions.

I know Midway isn't a coaster. I was just using that as another example of the stuff I can't do or am leery to do because of the motion sickness. A super nice cast member let me go in the FP line because she said I could see a glimpse of the ride before I got on. Got all the way to the loading area, saw the spinning and said 'nope...not even gonna chance it'. Very frustrating. I can do Buzz at MK...but you control the movement on that, so that makes it doable.

I have not done SDD but my mother and I are sensitive. Multiple rides put me over the edge but any type of spin and I am done for. I can handle Soarin but a few portions make me grab for something to grip onto. I really enjoy Mine Train and BTMRR but they are rough. There is quite a few rocking back and forth very quickly. My mother actually smacked her shoulder hard on Mine Train. I have some nausea after TSM but I recover quickly from it. Mine Train is definitely calmer than BTMRR.

The 'rough' part I don't think would bother me....Test Track and Dinosaur are rough, for sure, but I'm ok with those. I'm definitely glad that they don't last any longer than they do, but I'm not ill by the end. If I'm understanding correctly, though, it seems Slinky is MORE than the other 2....more height, more drops, more speed - I'm guessing....just more all around. Perhaps I'll be ok giving those two a try. Thanks for the input. :)

I have problems with motion sickness and have never had problems on BTMRR or 7DMT. But - everyone is different! It sounds like you're more sensitive than I am, so they might be a problem for you. Have you tried Bonine? I can get on pretty much anything if I've taken a Bonine, and they're non-drowsy.
