Late report here, but have some extra time now with Christmas and felt like I should pay it back with all the trip reports I have enjoyed reading. So bear with me first time trip reporter here...

This was a new experience for my wife and I, first time without our kids. She was in Florida all week on business so why not tack on a weekend of relaxation? We have two high schoolers now, so said my early morning good byes and off to Ohare for my 11:00 flight. Traffic was a breeze and flight right on time. My wife flew up from Miami and we landed within 15 min of each other, Uber shows up within 2 minutes of our request and we are checking into the Dolphin by 3:00. Travel was remarkably convenient!

The weather was perfect:mickey: We decided to eat outside at the poolside South Beach inspired bar and restaurant. We have had some great casual meals here in the past and love soaking up the weather. This time the food was quite disappointing :down: Loved the fish taco appetizer in the past, but now it was only listed as an entree. Not the same dish at all as an overpriced entree that was not all at culinarily unique. Mai Tai also was a let down.

We spent the rest of the afternoon walking around crescent lake and to the international gateway studying the soon to be gondolas. Played a round at Fantasia Gardens at the Fairways and Greens course, enjoying both activities immensely in the perfect weather. Debated on just where the new building would be placed for the Dolphin/Swan expansion. Decided on Flying Fish, made our ADR for 8:45 and returned to our room to get freshened up.

Off to dinner, but first a cocktail at one of my special places in the world. I love the Bell Vue room at BW, so many great memories with friends, family, and fantastic bartenders. Drink of choice is the bourbon old fashioned, unfortunately this time is not mixed right. It was on the sweet side with maraschino cherries, not dryer with the Luxardo cherries. Man I’m striking out with my food/drinks orders!

Well Flying Fish changed that trend. I had the sustainable sea bass with leeks, phenomenal :chef: My wife had a seafood risotto, good but very rich, probably better suited as an appetizer where just a couple of bites would satisfy. Dessert was a chocolate lava type of cake, but lighter than most and a perfect finish.

We strolled our way back along the boardwalk, caught the tail end of one of the performers along the way, and basked in our joy of such a pleasant evening and relaxing day:mickey:
