WARNING: I tend to write novels when a synopsis would do....

Day 6: Tuesday, May 1, 2018 -- EPCOT and home....

Cast of Characters: Me, myself and I -- 56 year old kid!!

May day! May day!! No, not in distress, just the first day of May! Also it is my last day at WDW...for this visit!!

Finishing off my visit with a spin around EPCOT with FP+ for Frozen Ever After, Mission: Space and the Disney Pixar Short Film Festival.

I know that there is a modicum of real Tier 1 FP+ options for EPCOT, but to be down to the Film Festival was a bummer. I have all these shorts at home on disks from the movies, so this was kind of a 'throw-away' FP+ option.

EPCOT was EMPTY this morning! Everything in Future World was a walk-on and World Showcase would prove to be not much different.

Got my last visit to Norway and Elsa's Summer Celebration taken care of right off the bat...I miss Maelstrom, but FEA is a great ride!! Stand-by was under 30 minutes, but I can chalk that up to being 5 minutes after rope drop. Didn't really need the FP+, but glad I had it anyway.

Back over to Future World for my space flight. Yes, I'm criss-crossing the park again! Moving kind of slowly as well. Last day is always a bit on the depressing side, knowing that I'm soon to be on my way away from the magic and back to reality. Decided to do the green side for this ride, so it was a smooth ride around the Earth. Touch down was a bit dicey, but what can you say? Trying to land a shuttle in a hurricane is tough work!

On my way over to decide whether or not to do the film festival, I decided to stop in The Land pavilion to check on the stand-by for Soarin'...Somehow, I had completely missed this on this trip. What was I thinking????? Luckily, the queue was not long -- under 45 minutes -- so I joined the throng to take a hang glider trip over some of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World. Was riding with a couple 'first timers' and got to chatting with them before and after the actual flight. We all liked the flight and they assured me tht they would be flying again as it was early in their trip and there were going to be more opportunities for them.

After this, I dropped my last FP+ option and decided to take one last slow walk around the entire park, check to see if there were any topiaries I missed, then head back to Pop to get ready for my DME bus ride back to the airport for my evening flight home.

DME picked me up around 4:30 to get me back to MCO for an 8:00 flight home. Once again, I flew through security with TS Pre-Check, so I was sitting at the gate with a lot of time to spare. Knowing this is generally the case, I always bring a book from my home library, or have something new and different on the Kindle app, to read. The flight was on time for departure and arrived almost 15 minutes before scheduled arrival time! Again, I just love Southwest for their timing!!! After a short wait for my checked bag to come around, it was off to Long Term parking to get my vehicle back and make the drive back home. Very little traffic on a Tuesday night after 1PM, so I was actually able to make it back in about 45 minutes and did not become a pumpkin at midnight...Unloaded the wee beastie and called it a vacation! Back to work bright and ugly Wednesday morning, so the bed was really calling my name. LOL

Your “May Day” Line is funny, nice!
I agree “ last days” can be quite depressing.

I have enjoyed your reports. Thanks again for posting them.
