We were unable to book what we wanted (Boardwalk) for the last week in Sept but was able to book Old Key West. Must be a busy time of the year.. anyway, any thoughts on this hotel? Good or bad reviews?:mickey:

We stayed there this past June due to the fact that we had 6 people in our group and it is one of the few resorts that can accommodate that many people. We loved it! We did find that the return bus trip back into the resort can be a bit long (our stop was the last stop at the front of the resort) so we would get off at the first stop and enjoy the walk back to our room (beating the bus to that last stop). The pools are really nice and we enjoyed the boat ride over to Disney Springs. Also, the fact that the room had a washer/dryer really made a difference too! One of the things we did not have a chance to do was eat at Olivia's but I hear it is a nice dining experience!

From just the standpoint of the resort, we prefer OKW over Boardwalk. Of course, BW has significant advantages if you're planning trips into EPCOT or DHS. But we like the rooms, the layout, and the feel of OKW much better. The rooms are probably the largest of any of the Disney resorts, which is really nice.

Negatives for OKW? It's very spread out, depending where your room is located. And keep in mind 90% of the buildings do not have an elevator, so you'll need to do steps if your room is on an upper floor. Have a great trip!

It'll be four of us in one room with a regular bed and a sofa bed.. has anyone slept on the sofa bed to comment on the comfortableness?

OKW is a Disney Vacation Club resort - the original DVC resort in fact. It is spread out and has 5 separate bus stops. There are approx 45 separate buildings spread across the property. Only 3 of those have elevators, which can be a problem for some people. There are studios, 1, 2 and 3 bedroom villas. The studios have a kitchenette. All the others have full kitchens and laundry in the villas. OKW is currently undergoing a complete refurbishment of the rooms, which is scheduled to last another year or more. The rooms are the largest rooms at any Disney Resort.

It is a lovely resort. Very restful. There are 4 pools, a wonderful table service restaurant (Olivia's) and boat transportation to Disney Springs.

Yes, I'm going with my cousin who is a DVC member and I'm AP which is best of both worlds.. free room & entry into the parks! So no matter where we stay, it'll be Disney. Thanks for everyone's input :)

Just got back from OKW last week. We had a great experience.
Positives: Large rooms, Olivia's restaurant, scenic room along the river, nice balcony, fun pool
Negatives: Very spread out, no food court

I found, personally, that if you have a car OKW is a great resort. We took the bus one day to MK and it took nearly an hour from the time we walked out of the room to the time we got to the park. We just missed the bus, then waited 25 minutes for the next one, then it had to make 4 more stops in OKW before leaving. Other days we drove to the parks and found that to be more convenient. It was great after a long day at the parks to be able to park right in front of our room. Also preferred to drive to the main pool and store and Olivia's rather than get on busses.

OKW does offer you 2 queen-sized beds in their studios. No sleeper sofas - unless you've booked a 1-BR with the king in the master and pull-out in the living room. If that's the case, the sleeper sofa is adequate. Not something I'd want to sleep on all the time, but manageable for several nights - same as most of the pull-out beds at all the DVC locations.
