I've stayed here twice, and like the Mansions. I really didn't enjoy the Bayou area at all. So I got it in my head that I'd really like to stay in the same building I was in....and of course just discovered that Parterre and Oak Manor are now ALL Royal Rooms. That leaves me with the other two mansion buildings, and I"m not sure I like the look of either one (no fountains in the courtyard? Sniff). What are your recommendations for building and wing? I know requests aren't guaranteed....if they put in the Bayou should I at least pay to upgrade to preferred location? Last time we were there we got lost EVERY time we wanted to get to our room. I was also unpleasantly surprised to find no elevator in those buildings, so maybe I need ground floor?

When we stay at POR, we upgrade to a preferred room, just to be close, and like you, avoid the "wandering" to our room. We always request a ground floor, since even when there are elevators I prefer it. I do think a ground floor makes a difference, with the lush vegetation, it makes you feel like you're in your own little world.

We've stayed in 18, and liked it, since it was a direct path to the main building, with the quiet pool right behind. Last trip, we stayed in building 15, and felt that it was "out of the way", and a bit harder to get to, and to get to the pool. Now, the plus was being close to parking, and having the most adorable little garden right in front of our room, but we'd pick 18 anytime over 15.

If you're not feeling the POR vibe, have you thought at POFQ? It is quaint and lovely, and maybe a bit of a change might be nice?

For POR, we like far from the main building, due to strategy in using and getting on the buses. We also use the buses a lot to get to/from our room. We prefer the bayou rooms.

I LOVED Magnolia building. The bus stop was right outside of our building. The walk to the food court was lovely but not too long. It was so romantic walking over the bridges that went over the river, especially in the evening. If you take the right bridge, you'll see the fountains in front of your favorite buildings.

For me I'd pay the upgrade and then request either 14, 18 or 27. They are the closest to the food court and the busses. I LOVE building 14. We could be at the main bus depot in just a few minutes through the parking lot and that's a plus plus plus when heading back late at night !! We have only stayed in the mansions once and I did not like it over there at all, and we were near the main pool. I miss staying there but our party has grown so now we must get two rooms or a suite ...
