Hi there, fellow Disney fans! It’s been some time since I’ve been here, but am trying to plan an upcoming trip and am looking for suggestions! My parents, myself, and my 2 1/2 yr. old son will be heading to WDW either the second or third week of May, and (after years of begging) my father is finally willing to consider staying onsite!

Dad is graciously paying for the room, and is budgeting for no more than $300/night. He and Mom will need park tickets, though I’m an AP holder and will not. We will also probably be offsite for a couple of days for other local activities, so will likely be buying tickets separately rather than as a stay and play package. Additionally, we’ll have a car, so no transportation worries, and will most likely order groceries for in-room breakfast options, toddler bedtime milk, etc.

I’ve stayed at POFQ previously and loved it, especially with the convenience of the boat ride to DS, but Dad has been asking me about the Cabins at FW. I’ve not stayed there and don’t know much about them. We are open to other resorts as well, so please help! Any and all recommendations are welcome! TIA :)

We are huge POFQ fan, and LOVE it! If this is a rare on-site stay for them, it really is a great choice.

But, we also really liked our cabin stay (and are likely booking another cabin for this fall). The advantages are that you have a house at Disney, a small house, but a house. They are usually more than $300/night, so it will likely be more than your Dad wants to pay.

The campground is fun, but it isn't "Disney". The pools are only OK (very shallow), and you need to use the internal busses to get around, since it is a large campground. The plusses, are the full-kitchen (no "real" oven), and the extra space, at a fairly reasonable rate (for Disney). The beds are comfortable, there is a queen and bunkbeds in the bedroom, and a pull-out couch in the living room. DH slept on the pull-out and said it was comfy. There isn't a ton of storage, but we made it work (we had myself, DH, DD and my Mom). There is a lot you can do at the campground itself, like the campfire/movie on the beach, the Chip & Dale campfire, etc. Since you'll have a car, transportation to the parks will be easy, and there is a boat to MK, if you'd like to take it.
