I'm not against artificial sweetener because I think it's going to give my family cancer or make my next kid have four arms (although that would have its advantages, no doubt) - I don't like it because it tastes absolutely terrible and pollutes whatever it touches. I mean, merely in my humble opinion (but also fact).

I really hate that it's unavoidable in some cases. A couple times on a recent trip I got my son the breakfast meal at the Beach Club market, which comes with a yogurt parfait. The yogurt had artificial sweetener in it.

The light lemonade, which now pervades dining establishments and sometimes is the only lemonade offered has artificial sweetener. In this case you can avoid it by just getting something else, of course, but sometimes I just want a lemonade, darn it.

Some of the kids' fancy drinks are made with light lemonade as a base.

Gross. Give me good old, fashioned sugar! :-)

I agree. I hate that it is everywhere. I am on a restrictive diet for medical issues at the moment and I cannot have ANY artificial sweeteners. It is in so many things. I also just listened to a podcast from How Stuff Works about the stuff and now I'm glad I don't eat it anymore. It really does seem to mess with insulin regulation and that can't be good.

I have always strongly disliked artificial sweeteners too but I have switched to Truvia and it is quite good with no bitter after taste.
