Anyone else headed to Alaska this summer? We just booked a fairly last minute trip (in my mind anyway) for May 26th on Celebrity Solstice. Not our first time but really looking forward to it!

We are actually booked on the Celebrity Millennium for June 9th northbound cruise, out of Vancouver. We will be spending five days before in Seattle and Vancouver and five days after in Seward and Girdwood (Anchorage) area. I booked a year ago so that we could get one of the aft cabins with the huge balcony, so we are pretty excited about it!

Yea!! I love Celebrity! Is this your first Alaska trip? We get home on the 2nd so I'll try to remember to check back in. Our last trip up there was a doozy and we did all the "big stuff". Helicopter trips, Ice climbing, dog cuddling etc. So this trip we are taking it a little easier. In fact I think the only excursion I am booking is the Deadliest Catch Crab trip in Ketchikan. We are round trip out of Seattle (which I think was a main force behind booking.) We had a BOGO Delta ticket that needed to be used before it expired. We took a balcony guarantee and ended up with a nice cabin on the bump out!

Yes, first Alaska cruise and probably our last (we are not big on cruising, but want to experience it to Alaska at least once). So we decided to splurge on a concierge-class cabin and went with the "Go Best" option. I will be happy not to think about drinks, internet and gratuities for the cruise portion! We do want to go back to Alaska someday and rent an RV to see more of the interior. But this is a good start. :)

As far as excursions, we are still working that out. We will mostly likely do a whale-watching tour in Icy Strait and there's a hovercraft tour in Juneau that I've had my eye on, but we'll book them separately from the cruise to save us some money.

I've been looking into an Alaskan Cruise but I just want to be sure that one of the excursions involves walking across the suspension bridge. :secret:

Glacier Wind Charters out of Hoonah (Icy Straight) was very good, but she fills up fast.

Go Best is the only way to go for us-we like our booze ;) Be sure to hit up the Martini Bar for the best drinks of the ship!
