DVC Holding ?

Unfortunately, we may have to cancel or modify our upcoming vacation in April....can someone explain a holding account and how it works? I read some online but it is a little confusing. :confused:

It's a relatively simple account to understand.

- if you cancel a DVC reservation (with points) 30 days or less from the arrival date of the reservation, your points are put into a special holding account.
- Any points in the holding account can be used for a future room reservation, but you can only make that reservation a max of 60 days in advance.
- The points in the holding account must be used by the end of the use-year in which you made the reservation. So if you used 100 points to make a reservation for this April, and you have a September use-year, you have to use the points in the holding account by the end of August, or lose them.


Right now your issue depends on when your April reservation is and when you have to decide to cancel or not. It's possible you're outside the 30-day window at this point. I'm sure a call to the Membership desk can get all your questions and concerns answered, if you need to make changes.

We made the reservation last year at the 11 months out for our home resort. We have an October use year, so we would have to use them by the end of September if they are in the Holding Account?
