If you are on the fence about getting an annual pass, this was just announced for the 45th anniversary

We know you’ll want to celebrate our 45th anniversary year in a special way too, so how about with an extra month of magic? Starting tomorrow, Oct. 2, guests who are purchasing a 12-month annual pass will be able to enjoy an extra month. That’s right, 13 months for the price of 12! New passes must be purchased between Oct. 2, 2016 and Jan. 3, 2017. Prices vary depending on the type of pass you select: Weekday Select, Silver, Gold, Platinum or Platinum Plus.

Any idea if you get the deal on a renewal? I know they don't usually give double discounts, but just wondering.

according to the Orlando Sentinal it is good for renewals also. Disney site doesn't specify.

I'm slightly annoyed as I purchased one on 09-21...grrr. But great for those who are on the fence!

Here's the question ... can I buy a 13-month pass, and NOT activate it until I want the 13 months to kick-off? Now THAT would be perfect... but I know I'm being greedy. :)

Not greedy. I've asked the same question. We don't need our passes until next October but are considering buying to get the deal by the end of the year. Still looking for official site saying it's OK to wait....

Just called WDW myself and there is no time limit to activate the annual passes even the 13 month deal (provided you purchase when the deal is current).

Great news as we plan on upgrading our tickets in December to AP's.

I just received an email saying that "new benefits" for AP holders now include 20% off merchandise (it was just 10%) and also 10% off almost all TS restaurants.

Aw man...I don't renew in time for this. :p I think I'll get my husbands AP sooner than planned though, so at least I'll be able to take advantage of this offer for him.

We renewed in August and picked up passes on October 4. Don't know if it was a fluke or not but we did get the 13 months.

If you buy a renewal with this special, I assume it would then move the renewal date for a potential AP the following year out by a month? They seem to be sticklers for only 12 months from that purchase/renewal date!

As I mentioned above, they did for me and I had purchased before the announcement and activated last week. I was quite surprised to get the 13 months.
