Hi!

Any thoughts on places to stay that aren't Disney hotels?? We've heard of a few that are VERY close, but have also found some on hotels.com that are about 10mi away, but VERY reasonable and a bit nicer.

Thoughts?? Do people use Uber to get around in LA?? Thanks... total newbie to figuring out LA on my own!

I usually stay at the Fairfield Inn on South Harbor Blvd. It's clean, free wifi (at least it was) and you can walk to the gate in a few minutes. There are places to eat, in walking distance, outside of the gates as well in Disneyland. A look at google earth will show you how close most places are there. Walking is better as traffic and parking are not as fun.. and hotel busses run on their schedule and are often full and you end up in a taxi at the end of the night. ;)

I second Patricia! We stayed at the Fairfield with Marriott points last April and it was perfect. It was an 8 minute walk to the gates, there is a Panera and a McDonald's on the way and the rate even without points was more than fair and affordable for the location. The wifi is still free! We rented a car and parking was $20 or $25 a day. We used Hertz and it was a breeze getting to and from from LAX. Traffic in LA is stinko so be careful using Uber. The surge fees during peak time will get you.

Editing to add - I stayed at the Best Western Raffles for my first trip, but I wouldn't recommend unless you want to take the ART (Anaheim bus system bus) up the street to the gates. It was super affordable- less than $100 a night in July! - and the place was nice, clean and included a breakfast, but it's a pretty long walk after the end of a long park day!

I like staying at the Cortona - it's right across from the Toy Story lot so you can easily walk to that lot and pick up the bus to the parks and vice versa. They have a free breakfast - not as nice as some I've had, but they do have hot food and it's better than some places I've stayed.

Hello,
We stay at the Embassy Suites, Anaheim South for several trips now. Free cook to order breakfast each morning, suite style rooms, and we usually get a fireworks corner room which you get to see Disney fireworks and this past Saturday night we had Angel's baseball fireworks too. Hotel has an ART stop, but we chose Uber for convenience and actually costs less $5-8 Uber ride to or from the parks.
