Well, this is one crazy feeling... I don't even know the last time I posted here, I know some of you remember me, but... it's been years.

It feels like coming home - the hours upon hours I used to spend here, planning our trips, helping, chatting - hard to believe it's been so long, but wow... it has. ;)

Our last mini-trip was a disaster of sorts, and it really took the blush off Disney - after years of loving it, down to the minutia, I guess we needed a break - and by we, I guess I really mean "I". No torrid details, just enough disappointment with all the changes we experienced, hating the new FastPass+, feeling rushed & scheduled... it was too short a trip to spread out the changes & adjust, and I left Disney not wearing a single one of the Disney rings I'd worn upon arrival, no souvenirs, not a lot of love left in this Dsnygirl for a place I'd considered home.

Fast-forward 3 yrs and I think we're finally ready to give it a go again... my DH and our DD's were probably ready years ago, but life brought so many changes there was never time to think about it, and we really didn't all that much. But for some reason, the last few months have had us all missing our Disney home, and I think we're going to try to surprise the girls with a Christmas gift of a pre-summer trip.

So, with all the changes, I feel a bit like a newbie - :jaw::eyes: - and you'll probably see me around the boards, asking for the advice I used to give. It'll be weird, but it feels good to be back - kinda like that long-lost family you still hold dear but couldn't get to visit.

Hoping some of you still remember me -- and hey, we just took our oldest DD to college last weekend -- can you BELIEVE that?!? Yeah, it's been that long. ;)

So thanks for any help - glad to be back amongst you crazies!! :D

Welcome back!
Leaving your child at college for the first time is rough! Hang in there!

When I saw your other post, I was just thinking about how grown up your kids have gotten. College - already? What a milestone!!

Welcome back!!

Welcome back ! Long time, no see !

We've rearranged the furniture a bit, did some painting and landscaping, but otherwise Intercot is still the same fun, informative place it's always been. And we're always glad to see old friends here.:rocks:

Welcome back Blythe!! Good to see you back on the boards.

We are in the same boat as you in regards to needing a break from the parks. But we have gone and done what you might think a bit crazy, we got hooked on Disney Cruising!! We did a cruise over Christmas and decided that we enjoyed ourselves so much more on the cruise that we gave up on the parks for a bit. We have done three cruises in the last 18 months and have never felt we were missing our Disney "fix".

I hope all of you planning goes well. I know that with the new systems in place that the planning of your trip can seem to take away from the enjoyment of your vacation.

Hi Brian!! It's nice to "see" you - give my love to your family! :)

We've thought about cruising - what have you found it to be like, pricewise, compared to a park vacation? With Julia being in college, our timing is limited - but it's definitely a thought!

Hey Blythe, :hi:

We went on the Fantasy for March Break this year. It cost us the same for the cruise as for a week at Disney deluxe resort, with the deluxe dining plan(got to compare apples to apples) and 7 day park hopper passes. We drove instead of flying which saved us a bundle. Even with a trip over March Break, we didn't have to fight the crowds for elbow room or walk around in the heat. We got our Disney fix by just being on the Fantasy. There is so much to see and do. You can do as little or as much as you want. For us it was the perfect Disney vacation.

Reading week is a perfect time to go. Reading week is in February and classes are done in April, we feel that college would give us more flexibility to avoid the crowds and higher prices. We are planning on doing a cruise the first week of May when Harry finishes his classes.

Blythe!!
So good to see you back on the boards!! Disney is still as magical...even with the mega planning involved. Good news, we could change plans, and it wasn't hard.

Oh, I remember you Blythe. I used to live in Lansing (friends with Nikki); but moved to Georgia two years ago where Kourtney finished her senior and is now a sophomore in college. Time does fly. Glad you are back and are willing to give Disney another go.
