Hello all,
We were just at WDW and stopped by the WL.

1- Half of the Lodge was being re-furbished (you can see from the pool area that they have completely gutted one half of the hotel)
2- The quiet pool near the villas is now completely filled in and a construction site
3- They seem to be putting in a large building (I was told a restaurant) near the boat house/where they used to show movies
4- there is now a line of cabin like structures going up along the lake (villas? 3BR villas?)
5- they cleared a large area between the WL and the MK Monorail (you can see it from the monorail)- possibly a new pool?

So much happening- anyone know what may be true?

According to the plans filed when they were about to start construction, there should be 26 cabins built. Whether they're 3 BR or not, I haven't heard. In June, Disney filed a notice for construction of a model room at the DVC Preview Center, which most likely will be the WL room. Rumors are it's for a 2BR lockoff, which are speculated to be what will be found in the main building south wing that has been under construction (courtyard view rooms). I haven't read anything about a restaurant. It is possible that a new pool will go in, since DVC Villas have their own pools. Yes, WL already has a pool with a slide, but so did the Contemporary, and BLT also has its own pool with slide. We'll see.

EDIT: I found a drawing showing placement of the 26 cabins. The article accompanying the drawing did mention restaurants (plural) and recreation buildings. There is no additional pool shown on the map. The article is from May 2015.

There will be a new pool built where the old one was...they have already announced that.

It was reported elsewhere that the villas under construction will be known as "Copper Creek Cabins and Villas at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge".

The question being bandied about now is whether these villas will be considered an additional resort rather than simply an expansion of the present Villas at the Wilderness Lodge. If that's the case, present owners at VWL would only be able to reserve the new units at the 7 month mark, and vise versa. No definitive answer to that question yet.

As an aside, I guess we'll have to start a new acronym for the new units - - CCC&V@DWL ??

As the existing VWL is being named Boulder Ridge Villas @ WL will we need a new acronym for that too?

As an update, the new pool has been poured and work has started on the outbuildings (rumored to be cabanas and likely restrooms), as well as faux boulders. The new QS building is moving along, and all the cabins have been framed with interior work ongoing. The new suites in the main Lodge, while not officially confirmed, are likely to be studios, 1BRs, and 2BRs, though a few have suggested that GVs will be available there, too, while the cabins may remain luxurious 2BRs. (Keep in mind, DVC hasn't even confirmed that the refurbishment in the main Lodge is actually related to the new CCVC much less the configuration.) Finally, the newly renamed Boulder Ridge Villas (BRV, though they will always be VWL to me!) is a separate resort unto itself just like CCVC. Ergo, the 11-month home window will not apply between the two.
