Crowds at Disneyland resort

Does Disneyland close its gates when it's too crowded? Does it matter if you are staying on site?

Disneyland does close its gates when it hits capacity.

It has been a LONG time since the 4th of July I worked that was capacity in the late 80's. But if my memory is correct, the crowd was pretty close to between 125,00 and 130,000 people.

At that time, capacity crowds were a rare thing.
