Hoping to connect with some SoCal locals. We are flying from the East coast to LA next fall, We plan to spend four or so days at DL, and then rent a car and head towards Vegas for a few days. On the way, we want to wander a bit and see/stay at a couple of national parks. Looking for recommendations on parks/routes to take. Does not have to be a straight shot. The maps make it a bit difficult to gauge distances and available roads. For example, is it logical to head up to Death Valley, then down to Mohave, then towards Vegas? Or do you recommend different parks? Open to anything....

We did this exact same thing 4 years ago. Our route was Disneyland for 2 days, drive to Death Valley and stay 2 nights, into Vegas for one night, over to Zion for one day, night by Bryce Canyon, day there and drive back to Vegas for another night. One night in Palm Springs to visit Joshua Tree then back to LAX. It was a great trip. Lots of driving but lots of scenery.

If only a couple days, I'd only try to do Death Valley and Joshua Tree. They are the closest to Vegas.

My brother just recently visited Vegas, Bryce Canyon, and Zion then back to Vegas. He loved the trip but had a whole week to do all the nature loving and shows. He said the parks were on the crowded side.

Another option would be to take I-5 North up to Bakersfield area and head to Sequoia National Park.

Depending on time of day..

It is 4-5 hours from Disneyland to Sequoia.

From Sequoia to Yosemite, you are looking at a 2 1/2 - 3 hour drive.

From Yosemite your looking at approx 5 1/2 hour drive to Vegas.

Just another option that is relatively close. Adding in Lake Tahoe is an option, but might push your time limit. Mammoth Lakes might be an optional add on.
