WDW News Today is reporting that, on April 10, there will be changes made to the current FastPass.

From Tom Coreless:
After booking their initial 1-to-3 FastPass+ reservations (you will now have the option to book anywhere between one and three, not forced to pick 3 initially), guests will now be able to book an additional and even further FP+ reservations through the MyDisneyExperience app. These can be made one at a time, so once you finish your initial reservations that were made in advance, then you may book another. With every additional FP+, you are able to just book one at a time and only book another once the previous are completed (as the system works now, but you will be able to book additional FastPass+ yourself through the mobile app or website, and book for another park if you plan to switch).
With the upgraded system, guests will be able to choose an attraction and time for the attraction simultaneously, instead of simply hoping that a time they wanted would be suggested after making their three initial attraction choices. This should allow guests to better customize their daily plans to their liking.
Other new features include the ability to remove individual guests from a FastPass+ reservation and the ability to cancel a single FastPass+ attraction reservation instead of all of them.
With these changes implemented, the Quick Picks FP+ option will be removed.
Guests will see significant changes to the look of the app (and kiosk interface) on April 10th, 2016, but larger changes that will make the app look and function more like the new official Disneyland Resort app are still expected at a later date.

I just saw that! I wonder if they really mean 1-3 fast passes... Meaning I can make just one for 9am for Soarin' and then after I ride Soarin' that day I can make another one for Soarin'? I'm hoping!!

Sure, why not? You could make another for Soarin' even with the current setup, but you had to use all of your first 3, then go to a kiosk to get it. This should work the same way, use your first 1 - 3, then you can book another for Soarin'....IF you can get one. We will have to see if you are locked out of more than one Tier 1 FP+ until you use 3 for the day.

In any event, this looks like it might be a boon for the Park Hopper crowd.

Yea but I don't WANT to use all three because 2 of the three are for dumb things that don't need them half of the time, lol. I just want to use one for Soarin' and then maybe one for Test Track and a third one for Soarin' again. I want to know if essentially they are ditching the tiers, I guess.

Even if implemented I have my doubts that this is going to open up the opportunity to Fastpass Soarin or Test Track 3+ times a day. Remember that now the system forces people into Fast passes that they wouldn't otherwise use, thereby spreading the crowd and times out. Disney regulars might not use that Fastpass on Nemo or Spaceship Earth but a lot of guests do, thereby allowing Disney to keep everyone from just booking Soarin or Test Track before going back to book them again.

Now everyone 'in the know' is going to try to schedule theirs early, filling all the early slots faster and pushing the 'next available' window back further. Since the total number of fastpass slots available doesn't change I don't think this is going to open up that multiple Soarin fastpass day other than at the few remaining slow times. For example, it's 11 AM and there are no more Test Track fast passes available already. If I switch to MK with more ride options and want to ride BTMRR, the earliest it gives me is 10 PM. Granted, it's still busy with some schools being on spring break, but I've tried to get 'day-of' fast passes for friends on Soarin during slow times and even at 9 AM there is often nothing available.

Glad to hear of this change. There is no reason this shouldn't have been how FP worked from the beginning. It was really kind of a pain in the neck to have to go to a park and use a kiosk. More like a "slow" pass.

Yep. All of it.

If this change does happen, and for once I truly don't know LOL, then you won't have to pick 3... you can pick just one... And like PopPhan said, once your one is used, you can then select another... So, if you only choose Soarin, once you use it, you can choose a 2nd... And yes, you can choose Soarin again, providing there are FP still available... Or you can then choose Test Track, use it, then choose Soarin or TT again...

Using the app is a good thing... Those kiosks take so much time especially since a lot of guests have no clue how to use them and seem embarrassed to ever ask a CM for help...

I'm so glad that we won't have to go to the kiosks anymore ... those lines were longer than the rides left with FP+.

Does this change touring strategy though? That I don't know ... I still think it may be better to get the pre-planned ones for the busier line times. It is going to be interesting if the whole trip becomes ride a ride, and then stand and look at your phone to book a FP+. Then, ride the ride and look at your phone.

This is certainly an improvement, and I can see us using this similar to the original FastPass system....Book the big ticket for as early as you can get it, and then spend the rest of the day looking for short lines and early fastpasses. That said, if I only book one....say I have a Soarin' FP, then I use it at 10AM...am I now able to make 3 more FP reservations, or am I at one at a time for the rest of the day?

I think I have been pretty vocal in my disappoint with the new FP+ system. I am glad they are trying to make it better. I think this is definitely an improvement (although I would still prefer the old system). As others have said, now there is an interesting planning dilemma. Do you schedule your big ride early and hope that you can still schedule a big ride later during busier times? Or, do you guess that all of the FP+ for the big rides will be selected in advance and you will not be able to get an additional one? If that is the case, then you should still select your big ride for the busiest time in advance (weeks/moths before). The real question is how may FP+ for the big rides are selected in advance and how many same day FP+ are available. I wish they would limit the number available for advanced selection, but I am sure that would make most unhappy.

I am guessing that for most of the big rides, there are only a few FP+ that will be available outside those that are selected weeks/months in advance. So, there might not be any difference. Perhaps it will make the lines for the rides that do not need FP flow better.

That's for sure. And, I am sure there will be a lot pushing strollers and staring at their cell phones at the same time!

Can we make it more complicated??? Just wondering lol - taking the fun out of it. My husband thought I was nuts when I told him I had to plan our OCTOBER trip out now. He said how do I know what I want to eat in 6 months from now..

It's hard to plan as it is when you don't know what the Magic Hours are and when the Halloween party will be. I'm guessing and hoping for the best. ON TOP of my phone will not support the Dis app..

Don't get me started! Those of us on ECVs are learning to hate cell phones as people looking at their cell phones walk into us, then blame US.
