I know a few folks who did this last year so I decided I'm in for the fun and thought this would be a neat way to bring us all together, even if we can't be in the same place - plus they have BLING!

What is it?

The Pi Day 5K is a flexible alternative to traditional races—you can participate, regardless of where you live and can run on your own schedule (extra points however for those who run on 3/14/16). We ship you your swag and you run with friends, imaginary or real.

How does it work?

First off, you register for the Pi Day 5K. Online registration is currently open. You can register at any time, up until midnight on March 5th. (Canadian registration closes one week earlier to allow for shipping times. Sorry, eh.) Your registration will come with a sumptuously soft Pi Day 5K shirt you can wear with pride, plus a bib number and finisher’s medal (if you wear the medal before completing the run, you will burst into flames), all which you will receive the week before the run dates. Run the Pi Day 5K wherever you’d like (on your favorite local running trail, in your neighborhood, on a treadmill, in a fog, on a log, etc) between March 12th and March 15th. Once you have run, report your time to us to be eligible for marvelous prizes.

Are you in?

Register with our #runICOT team pre-selected here:
https://www.eventbrite.com/e/pi-day-5k-2016-tickets-20589614090?team_token=1476958-556qo

Early registration cost is $35 and includes the swag!

If you need more details:

Then go to http://pi5k.com (http://pi5k.com/) - just be sure when registering to choose JOIN A TEAM. Enter #runICOT and then finish the process and report back here!

I signed up today - join INTERCOT in the fun! :mickey:

This sounds like fun. Three times around World Showcase is 5k, or so I've been told. I may just do it to prepare for the Star Wars inaugural in April.

I love this idea! I think I may join the team! And I found a great indoor track today where I live for doing this sort of thing.

Very cool! Our family is in! My oldest son LOVES pi. We already have plans to make a pie on 3/14. Gotta run so we can eat it! He will love the medal and shirt!

I did this virtual race last year. The group that runs it is great and the swag is a very nice quality. Last year it did sell out so if you are interested sign up early. I'll be signing up this week. :)

Is the medal metal? Or plastic/rubber?

In all the pictures I have seen, it looks like metal. Cindy should be able to confirm.

It was metal last year. I did their Puppy Run too and that one was metal as well so I assume this one will be. The shirts were a very nice quality too.

We're in ... DD and I missed participating last year, since it sold out, so we jumped at the chance to do it this year, and "with" some ICOT friends. :)

Alright - my daughter and I are all signed up! Can't wait to (virtually) run with you all! Plus you get bling - that's the best part. LOL! And maybe a pie for all the effort at the end.

Looks like we won't be team with most people. There is a team with like 70 something people.
Anyway on a sad note, I am registered but will be unable to walk/run this. Going to have to have knee surgery on a torn meniscus early in March. Sorry to let the team down but we still have a nice showing going into it. Good luck to everyone. #runICOT and #cheerICOT Rules. 😎😎

Wishing you the best Justin. I will run a second 5K for you. I'm sure there won't be a problem with bib transfers on a virtual race. :)

Good with your surgery. You will be back on the course in no time!

Thanks sweetie. Dawn siad she would do her 5K one day and then mine the next day so we are covered. If she can't do it, I'll let you know.

Did everyone enjoy their virtual Pi Day 5K race as much as I did! I had a nice flat run with my four-legged running buddy and got a time that I was happy with. The only disappointment was that I was back running in the dark in the early morning with the time change. But my reward was apple pie for breakfast so I can't complain!

It was fun watching all the results get posted on facebook and glad to support a good cause!

Still have to run mine - weather was lousy yesterday and today plus I had to work downtown and didn't return till after dark tonite. Planning on running my 10k tomorrow.

I believe they gave us some flexibility on the date and I haven't put my medal on yet - so I haven't burst into flames ;)

Sorry, I didn't register because the Canadian exchange rate is awful, but I did complete 11 K today. I was with all of you in spirit. Happy Pi Day! ∏

Yes! We "ran" as a family with our kids so we mostly walked so we could stay together, even though 3/4 of us wanted to run the whole time. ;) We had beautiful weather and scenery on the trail near our home. Finished the day by watching my son make a pie that we enjoyed very much!

Just saw registration is open for this years Pi Day 5/10K. Are we going to do a #runICOT team again this year?
Featured on their website, http://pi5k.com is our very own Buttercup, aka Carolyn, aka 1/2 of Canada and her family!
