He is one man I'd like to meet and say hello to... Course get a book signed too and maybe a selfie with!

Prolly the closest person I'd ever get to meet that was near and knew Walt.

I didn’t originally plan on going to Hollywood Studios today. However, after finding out about the book signing, I changed my plans and headed over first thing this morning. The parked opened at 8 this morning, and that was not considered an EMH. I suppose it opened early because it closed at 4 today. Fortunately I’m here for the week so I can see the Osbourne lights later, before they’re gone.

I checked in at Guest Relations to get the 411 on where to go. The two CMs working outside had no idea about the book signing or even who Marty Sklar is! Honestly, I was dumbfounded by that. That being said, one went to the back and got the info for me. She told me the signing would be at The Writer’s Stop, which also happens to be one of my favorite spots in the whole park. I arrived at 8:15 and a line of about 20 had already formed with 2 groups already allowed inside the shop. The latest info I had stated the signing would begin at 9am. I only arrived that early to purchase the book. Some already had a book with them. I wondered if we could have purchased the book in advance but some of the information I read lead me to believe otherwise.

About 8:20, Mr. Sklar strolls past us with Disney CMs to either side of him. He was so unassuming, I didn’t realize it was him until he walked several feet beyond me. The line grew as I waited and a nice CM came by with samples of the carrot cake cookie they sale in the shop. That was a nice gestures, and I guarantee I wasn’t the only one making a cookie purchase after the signing. :-)

Those of us waiting entered through what I consider the side door. We were brought in and led to the register to make a book purchase if necessary and receive a green wrist band. The band allowed two signatures from Mr. Sklar. I believe this included the book and/or a personal item. Mr. Sklar is also doing a book signing at Disney Springs tomorrow and those bands will be a different color. Just after the wrist band, another CM asked if we wanted our signature personalized in which case she wrote down the name and placed the paper on the page he would sign. After he signed your item, they then cut the band from your wrist.

I proudly represented the Intercot community. I was wearing my Intercot t-shirt and told him this is how I found out about his book signing. I also told him how pleased I was that my vacation that had been planned over a year ago, coincided with his visit. There was another CM there offering to take photos for anyone with a camera. She took several for me from my phone.

It was an awesome experience and I'm so glad to have had the opportunity. Overall it was a bit rushed. You didn't have time to linger, what with everyone behind you waiting and there being a time limit and all. It made me want to sit with him and here his accounts in his own voice. He seems to be a nice guy.
