We have been to Ft. moumouth / Sandy Hook beach several times in NJ. You can see Brooklyn, NYC, and Long Island from the beach. Very nice beach. I was wondering if you take the ferry from Sandy Hook to NYC can you see Staten Island and the Statue of Liberty?

It would be impossible for someone with functioning eyesight to not see Staten Island and The Statue of Liberty on a ferry ride from Sandy Hook to Manhattan.

Have fun.

Yes, you can see them. It's been a LONG time since I've taken one of those ferrries. I took it from Highlands (next to Sandy Hook) up to Manhattan. We went by Staten Island to get to Manhattan and we actually went UNDER the Verrazano bridge, which was pretty cool. When I went, the ferry stopped on the east side of the southern tip of Manhattan (stopping at Brooklyn first), but we could see the Statue of Liberty to the west of us as we approached Manhattan.

Thanks! That is a park of NYC I am not familiar with. We have gone to Sandy Hook and Ft. Moumouth a few times and I have wanted to try the ferry just for the experience. Don't plan to get off- just go over and return to the beach. Think it would run $60-80 roundtrip but would involve about 2+hours with roundtrip ride. Sounds like a fun way to see a little of the city.

You may want to check the schedule, it's not something that runs back and forth continuously. I should add there is Highland/NYC service that runs more frequently but that doesn't offer the bus from the pier to the beach.
