We are headed to SOG in 2 weeks for the first time. What is the aafes store like? Are the prices good or would it be wiser to hit the commissary before we drive down?

What type of items are you looking for? Prices are good, certainly better than what you'd find at the parks or in the resort hotels, but items are limited to single drink bottles, a few food items, chips, etc.
