Cast of Characters
Me - Big Daddy - that's the name on my magic band :mickey:
DS - Turning 14 while in FL
DD - Turning 11 in Jan but celebrating in WDW
Day 2 - Universal Studios - DS's 14th Birthday
Early entry was at 7AM so we got up early. Come to find out the only area open early is Diagon Alley and the only ride open early is Escape from Gringotts - so guess where everyone went. We got in line and the queue is right out of the movie. It's wonderful! We were about 5 to 10 min from boarding and the ride broke down. We were escorted out about a half hour later and given a fastpass to come back later. So the early entry was a complete bust. We rode the Simpsons (cool) Men in Black (cool) Despicable Me (great) Transformers (AWESOME) Revenge of the Mummy (Fantastic) and then headed back to Gringotts. We used our fastpass and went right to the front, got in and rounded the first corner and BOOM, the ride broke down again. We sat for about 20 min and then the ride started up. We were able to finish the ride(pretty good) and given another fast pass on the way out because of the breakdown. We went back to the hotel and went for a swim. Funny story - two ducks were swimming in the pool. They would swim and then hop out and pick up food crumbs and jump back in the water. After an hour or so we watched the ducks jump out and waddle over to the pool bar looking for food. My son says, "look Dad, two ducks walk into a bar!". After our swim we went back and rode the Hogwarts express over to the Islands of Adventure because the Studios closed early for the Halloween Party (this one is not kid friendly so we stayed away). We rode Spiderman 4 times in a row (awesome) and then messed around in the Dr. Seuss area before we made our way to the Blue Man show at CityWalk. If you haven't seen Blue Man, I highly recommend it. We had 2nd row center seats and were in the poncho/splash zone. I called and had my son's name added to the big screen as it was his birthday and the whole audience said the Happy Birthday song to him - per directions on the screen, we were not allowed to sing . One of the Blue Men gave him a piece of art that was made during the show. He was thrilled! We had to carry it on the plane, but we got it home and it is hanging in his room. The show was so much fun, we will go and see it again. We wandered through the shops in Citywalk after the show and then took the boat back to the resort and turned in for the night.
