Annual Passes

Planning a trip to Universal in June. A friend suggested getting an annual pass for one of us because my son may be returning. Same friend got a room discount at Portofino Bay in May. Anyone know how I get a room discount for June?
Is there a code or do I just call on the phone?
Can I get 2 rooms with one Annual Pass like Disney does? Do they have block-out dates? Are there other advantages of an Annual Pass?
