Is Disney's Hollywood Studios getting a name change?

During the annual shareholders meeting Thursday, Disney CEO Bob Iger may have said just that.

During the question and answer portion of the meeting, a boy in the audience asked Iger about Disney's Hollywood Studios' name. Iger said a name change was coming -- then stopped himself.

"Have we announced that?" he asked off-mic.

If they change it to Frozen Land, I quit.

Possible Star Wars Land :yoda::darth:

Maybe it could be called "The Land of the Yeti" :yeti:

I kid, I kid.

I heard Disney Hollywood Adventure.

This would not surprise me one bit. Though with Islands of Adventure, it seems ill advised.

I still call it MGM.

BUT ... I wonder if the new name will involve their partnership with TCM? Maybe something with STAR WARS!!! I would dig either one of those!

I think Disney('s) Hollywood Adventure works as a name for Disney, since they have Disney CA Adventure out west. Though I agree with there already being an Islands of Adventure in Orlando, does seem unique enough.

Disney's Hollywood.
Just drop the "Studios" since that is a misnomer

Why not Walt Disney Studios? :mickey:

Hollywood makes me think of California..

They just need to remove the "Studios" from the name and call it "Disney's Mishmosh Park."

Ever since it stopped being an actual studio it has no real identity anyway.

Well, for one thing, it's not a studio. The Walt Disney Studio already exists, in California.

If you think about it, by design, the Magic Kingdom is a mishmosh, jungle over here, wild west over there, princesses over there, and it all starts with a city street. It seems to work there, why not at Disney's Hollywood (insert name here)?

True, there is a Walt Disney Studio in California.. but it's not theme park. There is already the Walt Disney Studios Park in Paris, considered a sister to the Florida park.

If they are dropping the Studio then maybe we will see Florida Adventure? Heh.

Maybe it's the "Hollywood" they need to drop? Not that "Studio" fits anymore either. Perhaps the changes will be significant enough that an entirely different name will make sense? Disney's Movie Adventure?

At least it means job security for the sign making department or else to reduce cost just name it "The Third Gate". No need for another name change.

I threw out Wonderful World of Disney. My son was kind enough to point out that just about everything at Hollywood Studios was something Disney has bought.

"Walt Disney World Park #3", which is probably how a lot of people think of it anyway. Epcot is "Park 2." AK is "Park 4." Management/WDI seems to treat them like they're generic Disney parks more and more anyway, as well.

Another thought:
Magic Kingdom
Animal Kingdom
...Movie Kingdom?
and finally Neglected Kingdom (for poor Epcot)

......perhaps .....it could now be labeled, "The Park Formerly Known As ...."

....and then insert some kind of unpronounceable symbol ....much like Prince did.

We have a close friend in L.A. that is a producer....(does alot of commercials for Apple) He works with Disney in Burbank a lot also....he has heard the new name will "certainly have a SoCal theme) Which, makes sense. With the old school Hollywood look of the studios. I actually, hope they do a L.A. style name, I think it would work!!!

I still call it "MGM" so the name won't do much for me. I do like the park but the overall theme really needs an update. I enjoy the attractions but there is not as much to look at. I spend the least time there.
