So i have heard that Disney is doing away with Vinylmation trading at Disney World! This includes D-Street! Now my question is, why are they doing this? Isn't it an incentive to buy them, and to keep people buying them? Knowing that if they get a double they can trade it away. In my opinion if they are going to do away with trading then they should do away with blind boxes.

For example we just went to our local Disney Store and purchased 5 Cinderella Vinyls. We got 2 Lucifers, we thought we would just hold onto it and trade it when we went to Disney, but then we found out this terrible news.

Does anyone have any idea whats next for vinylmations? They still are releasing them, so do they have something new up their sleeves?

I know people enjoy it, but the "blind box" drives me crazy! At least with the trading you'd end up with something you'd like.

Maybe, since it isn't as popular as they hoped, it just isn't worth the trouble?

I have been hearing these things as well. The problem as I saw it in my last trip down is that vinylmation and trading was down significantly.
The blind trading as well as the visible box all seem to have the same few pieces in it (big baby from toy story was everywhere my last trip). finding a set of consistent rules on trading was always a hassle too. some cast members dont care and let you look in the box others are so strict that even the 2 trades per person rule was too soft for traders.

Also with the fact that they are shrinking boxes and lowering set amounts (8 different characters instead of 12) shows me that they are running out of steam and may have flooded the market too much. A lot of the members out there that collect find that the popcorn and park starz collections were a nail in the coffin because they are more expensive and turned away from their mickey mouse look. Now from what i've seen they are just not promoting trading to the box but it looks like they still want to have a vinylmation trading day. So being uncertain it sounds more like they are going through a lean times or a restructure.

but if you are interested in trading there are many places one can trade with out having to go to the parks

Like where? I am aware at the Disney stores but its not the same. On our last trip we took 12 traders that were either doubles or ones we didn't like and came home with 12 keepers. We saw other collectors sitting in epcot trading but other people are hard to trade with.

there are sites that are being set up to host trades while not ideal might be the best way... im looking myself to set up a trade system through my blog and to host state wide trade days. its hard to tell tho how many people in CT collect
