When - Nov 13 - 17
Where - Beach Club
How - Southwest
Why - DS 16th birthday

Day 2 - Original plan was breakfast at Kona with FP for Splash, Space and Peter Pan and dinner at Ohana (9:30 pm). We had decided a few days before we wanted to sleep in given we were out late the night before. Cancelled Kona and the a.m FP’s. Made FP for the Studios later in the day. We took our time in the morning and had muffins from the Marketplace and ate outside. It was a bit chilly so our biggest decision was sweatshirt or no sweatshirt! I wish everyday was like that!

We walked through Epcot and onto the monorail and transferred to the MK Monorail. Originally we had ADRs for Liberty Tavern on Sat but were able to change them to today. Had a lovely feast for lunch, waitress was very nice and the only disappointment was no more honey butter (you have to ask for rolls at lunch). Still an outstanding meal! I didn’t use the dining plan for this meal, we didn’t get dessert as we were stuffed!

We decided to go on Splash since we did have sweatshirts on, no fp but only 10 min wait (probably a bit too cool for native southerners). We got on the front row and had a great ride! Another ride that just makes me happy! We did CoP and People mover and basically just took in the atmosphere.

We took the bus to the Studios and head off for our FP rides. We did Rockin Roller Coaster, Tower and Star Tours. All great rides! I’m a very happy camper! My son and I enjoy the Studios and both love movies etc so appreciate it. We also went to One Man’s Dream (another thing we hadn’t done in a long time) which we both really enjoyed!

Made our way to the Osbourne Lights and it was great (and crowded) as usual! We were missing DH and DD a bit at this time as they really enjoy the lights also.

We still had 2 ½ hours until our Ohana reservations so we walked back to the Beach Club. We had done this walk only once before from the Boardwalk and it wasn’t bad. This time we just regretted it, we were exhausted!

We rested our feet for about an hour and then made our way through Epcot again to the monorail.

As were getting on the monorail a women was asking a CM how to get to the Polynesian from there so they could get a bus to Downtown Disney where their car was parked. She was still clearly confused as we got on monorail so I offered to escort her to the bus stop. They were a lovely couple visiting their niece at college that weekend, ironically at a college my son is interested in so that was good to hear about. They had gone to Disney often and she remarked of how jealous she was that I was with my son, her sons were older and those times had past. It did make me appreciate my time! Once we got them to the bus stop we made our way to Ohanas.

We typically do a late night dinner since we stay at the Polynesian and it’s usually the only time we can get!

In the past we have enjoyed Ohanas but this visit lacked something (beside the salad) for some reason. We weren’t sure who our waitress was at first because no one introduced themselves as one.

Once we established who it was, she did not seem happy we did not want the shrimp and seemed aggravated that we did not eat much of the steak or pork (we were full/and saving room for dessert). Overall a decent meal but our least favorite sit down of the trip. Holiday wishes fireworks was great to watch however.

Afterwards we wandered around a bit and decided we could have handled staying here for this trip, but glad we decided to do something new. We took the monorail to the MK and got the bus to the Beach Club, pretty happy to be going to bed!

Overall thoughts –
Weather was a little cool but to us perfect Disney weather.

FP – Easily made the changes from MK to Studios.

Polynesian – I’m excited about how it will look when the construction is finished. I do not have an interest in the bungalows (so close to the loud ferry boats going by!) but just saw a picture of the new check in area that had opened since we were there and it looks great!

Music, decorations etc - It was earily quiet when we walked into the Studios and realized that no music was playing. I really missed this, not sure why they weren’t playing anything. I noticed it often throughout the park at various times and places. Only Christmas decorations at this time were at MK and Studios (guessing because of the party and Osbourne lights).

What a great day, starting with the leisurely morning. Happy that you were able to change your FP+ and dining plans so they would better work for you today.

We did Rockin Roller Coaster, Tower and Star Tours. All great rides! I’m a very happy camper! My son and I enjoy the Studios and both love movies etc so appreciate it. While I know that the Studios is vastly underappreciated by many, we have spent so many wonderful days there with Star Wars Weekends, Fantasmic, and the attractions you listed above that it is a very special park for my DS and I, too! Kind of strange that no music was playing tho - oftentimes that is what MAKES the ambiance!

Usually Ohana is one of our favorite meals - I know on occasion we have gotten a server who didn't bring their "A" game and it soooo affects the whole dining experience. Ohana should never be the least favorite of anyone's trip - I am so sorry it was yours! At least you got to catch Holiday Wishes.

Great day, Barb! :mickey:

What a long day - but long in a very good way! You got much accomplished. Sorry dinner was a disappointment - the server really makes or breaks or the meal!!

Thanks for the report...we ate at Ohana a few weeks ago and although the food was good, we felt the dessert was off...still a favorite though
