Thank you. Folllow up question. Someone told me you had to get tickets to be up front, or just take your chances.
If I wanted to attend, what would I have to do?

It's varied from year to year. Some years you've had to sign up for a 4 hour "shift" to be able to get involved. The last couple of years it's just been first come first served. Get there early and claim your spot. Just in case you haven't experienced it before, I will give a warning, the parade taping is VERY boring. Basically they run 1 float down the street, back it up, run it again, back it up, run it again until they have all the angels covered then repeat for the next float. That's why you see those really tall banners behind the float on Christmas morning - so that you can't see there's actually nothing behind the current float. It's similar for the music acts (which tape on Friday and the parade is done on Saturday with make-up shots on Sunday). They'll bring out the dancers and shoot some footage with them, then the back up band and shoot some with them, then the headliner will come out and do one or two takes. Then they have to reset everything on the stage and get ready for the next act. So, it is cool to say "I was there" when watching on Christmas morning but be aware there's a lot of standing around and waiting.
