Do you get a magic band if you have no ticket

I made a room reservation through a DVC member and at some point will buy tickets (of course from Intercot sponsor The Official Ticket Center!).

Do I only get a magic band once I have a ticket, or will I also get them for simply having a room ressie. I imagine they'd still like to track your spending and stuff even if you are not necessarily going to the parks, right?

And if so, after I get my ticket (let's say a few weeks before we leave), I have to call Disney to link my ticket to my room reservation, correct? Is that a pain since it will have been purchased from a third-party vendor?

You will get a band for having a resort reservation, if you haven't already done so sign into MDE and customize it. When you get your ticket you can just add it on MDE, no need to call.
