Parents aren't happy at OKW

So my parents are in disney now, after being in sarasota for 2 weeks they moved over to disney for 1 week. They are staying with their points (DVC) at OKW. They awoke this morning with very questionable bites on themselves. On my dad's feet and leg, my moms shoulder and arm. They quickly told management who said they would look into it.

My dad then asked to move to Saratoga springs considering they were so unhappy and frankly grossed out. I will preface this by saying this is the SECOND room at OKW they were in...the first was musty smelling.

My question is don't you feel that they should get something for their troubles? I'm not saying Disney owes them anything but I think after two yucky rooms and very itchy bites, they deserve something!!! :mad:

Sorry to hear your parents are having a tough go of it. If Disney moved them to SSR and are not charging them anymore then they already have gotten a compensation of sorts since OKW uses less points than SSR.

I would make sure they find out whether or not it was bed bugs...they may need to treat their luggage and clothes immediately or else they will be bringing a very inconvenient and expensive problem home with them.

They deserve good service and prompt attention to their concerns, but it sounds like they've gotten that. Did they get moved to Saratoga Springs? I'm sorry they're having a bad stay.

Good point!! Question is how? Disney supposedly cleared the room and at this point they are already at Saratoga. Will it show on their clothes?

They should be able to ask, and can even express their concern that if it was they want to know BEFORE they get home. Bed bugs can be stinkers to find with the naked eye, that's why usually someone doesn't know they have them (unless a large infestation) until they start seeing/getting bites. I would think that if they ask concierge, legally they would have to tell your parents, because if you found out they lied about it and didn't tell them if your parents flat out asked, they could be in trouble. But I am not a lawyer so I could be completely wrong on that end. I would at least ask and express their concern to OKW.

The could probably call over and ask to speak to a manager. If they checked the room they would know what they found. Bed bugs are tough little buggers though, the bites can show up anywhere from 1 - 14 days so they may have picked them up in Saratoga.

This is true. Though it is a shame that your parents had bad experiences in both of their rooms at OKW.

I would suggest thoroughly checking their clothing and luggage in case it's bed bugs. It might be something as simple as a harmless spider bite though. We've had stubborn biting spiders in our beds before (not at Disney but elsewhere).

I wrote to the head of the vacation club and then talked with a rep on the phone.
The head of the company is:
Ken Potrock, Sr. Vice President

Celebration FL 34747

Otherwise the company heads won't even know about the problem.

VWL Mom was saying that even though the bites appeared at OKW, the bugs could have travelled with them from Saratoga and just didn't bite until OKW.

Either way, I hope they stayed in OKW and didn't follow you to SSR.

No they were in SARASOTA Florida for two weeks prior to getting to OKW. The bites showed up after one night at OKW. Then they transferred to SARATOGA Springs after complaining to management. :mickey:
If anything I guess it's possible the bites could have come from a high end condo they were staying in.

Now after I saw the bites, (they came home tonight) they are clearing up...it almost looks like flea bites??? But I'm no specialist....:blush:
