We have reservations at Teppan Edo in April. Our DD is 13 but prefers to eat off of kids menus most of the time. If we are paying oop for her would they allow her to eat the childrens portion off the kids meal..chicken would be her choice. We weren't sure if this location functioned more like a buffet and wouldn't let her choose the childs portion. We have the DDP on this trip but will pay oop for our girls since they can really waste a sit down credit. We were using their two sit down credits at Cape May since it is a buffet and I don't think they would let us pay child's prices for a 17 and 13 year old..even though they are both super pickey and don't eat much.

You can at Teppan Edo, as you suspect, not at Cape May.

How the server handles it is anyone's guess, I haven't heard many people complaining about them messing up the bills lately. You need to make sure they understand what you are trying to do. There can be a significant language barrier at Teppan Edo.

We just returned on Monday from a wonderful trip.We did eat in Japan and they did let my daughter get the children's portion and let us pay oop. Where we encountered the problem was Tutto Italia. The hostess went to seat us and I asked for a children's menu. She seated us..asked who we believed to be a manager and came back and said no that the children's menu is for 9 and younger. I then asked if we could look at the menu and order an adult portion of one of the items since it was more simple and thus picky daughter would be more apt to eat it. Her answer was no. We couldn't even look at it...We ended up ordering an adult option and having them remove things from it so she would eat it. Everywhere else was great. 50's let her order a children's meal as well as The Plaza.
