I never thought I would say thank you for state testing in the schools, but because of the new Illinois state tests, our spring break next year is in mid April. We got the GREATEST price on the Disney Wonder 4 Day (Castaway Cay, Nassau, and KEY WEST!) on the Disney Wonder.

We sailed on the Wonder in 2009 and the Dream in 2012.

I'm a little nervous that after being on the Dream, the Wonder will be less-than for my boys (16 and twin 11s). I know the Wonder didn't have the big refurb that the Magic did, but have they made any improvements to keep up with the big guns within the past few years?

While they haven't had the refurb that Magic did, we sailed the Wonder in 2013 and it was lovely!!
I am quite opposite re: being nervous comparing ships. We have sailed dream, magic 2x, and wonder and are set for fantasy in July, 7 night.
I'm nervous that we are spoiled to the smaller ships.
1- sharing castaway cay with 4000 ppl vs 1600 ppl makes a big difference.
2- the pools are not much bigger (if at all) on the large ships, which makes it tricky.

Congratulations on the great deal and school break!!! Bon voyage!! Tell the wonder I said hi!!

Congratulations! April is a wonderful time to go. The weather is perfect. Warm enough to swim, but not so hot that you can't enjoy it.

That's an interesting point about the # of people at Castaway Cay. I had not thought of that. We never ever felt crowded on the Dream even when it was completely full, but we did find Castaway Cay to be a little crowded --- not enough chairs. Now I want to try one of the smaller ships!

Golden Dreams, that's what everyone says when I mention the castaway cay comparison- "I never thought of that"' but it's so true eh? We did the Dream in 2010 and it broke my heart to be on this tropical paradise and have my daughter sitting in the sand while my husband and I took turns sharing the one chair we could find. Castaway is the highlight of my cruise (that's just me) and it is so much better on a smaller ship.

Try one sometime. The intimacy is also there. You see the same families often and strike up conversations! This month on then magic I kept seeing a family with a little girl who was obviously with doc mcstuffins. She dressed as her every day, white coat, stethoscope and all.
I saw them in the gift shop and grabbed a stuffed animal and said "oh no! He looks sick !"
The little girl beamed and went to straight to work examining it and mom started snapping pics.

The crew also know you more. Stateroom attendants on other decks would say "hi mrs warner" as I walked around. (That was on the wonder, longer cruise) It's just awesome!

I agree the smaller ships are better. Less lines everywhere and the crew really does get to know you. :mickey:
