The Boulders in Carefree, Arizona Trip Report:
I just returned from a week with my BF (not a huge WDW fan) at The Boulders Resort and thought I would share a short trip report.
The Boulders is a Ritz Carlton resort just north of Scottsdale, AZ. It is just at the edge of the mountains and is truly lovely. The resort is not a hotel per se. They have two basic areas for guests the Casasitas which are one bedroom, kitchen, and living room style amenities and the Villas which are 3-5 bedroom homes. We stayed in the Villas in a 3 bedroom. Each home is different and has slightly different amenities. Our back yard had an outdoor adobe style fire place, lots of cactus and a beautiful wall rock water fall. The master bedroom was huge and the master bath was TO DIE FOR. It had a beautiful garden tub with windows that looked out on a private cactus garden and a huge beautiful shower that had so many jets I lost count and a rain shower coming from the ceiling. We loved it so much we are now thinking about doing some bathroom remodeling similar to this bathroom in our home. The resort has on site transportation. You can just call the front desk and they will send someone to pick you up to take you wherever you want to go within the resort. The place is huge! We played 2 rounds of golf playing both the north and south courses. I have played golf in some really beautiful places but this was truly spectacular with the beautiful greens and the cactus, desert, and mountains in the background. We took a jeep tour into the desert and mountains. This was really fun and quite an adventure. One day we drove into Mesa to go to a Cubs Spring Training game. I am a huge baseball fan and this was the inaugural season of their new “Wrigleyville-West” stadium. It was very impressive. One evening we went to a little town just north of Carefree, Canyon Creek. They had several bars and restaurants that had a western theme. They had live bull riding and other rodeo type events as well as lots of live music. We had a lovely dinner one evening in Scottsdale at Mastros. The restaurant is fairly new, very trendy, but really beautiful. The service was wonderful and the steaks were perfect. The resort also is very famous for their spa. I had planned to do a half day spa treatment but opted to go to the Cubs game that day. I couldn't get another appointment before we left. No worries. It was really a wonderful and relaxing trip.
I love vacations!!!!
