View Full Version : Same day flight change - earlier - Do I need to call DME?

I received a call from Southwest/AirTran Saturday evening that the flight that I had booked for my arrival day was changed -- A few minutes later and flight number change (AirTran side of the business)

I was given an option to change flights without needing to worry about the special offer fare that I had booked under, so I went with an earlier flight -- 7:10am (9:30am arrival) vs. 9:16am (11:35am arrival). This means that I will be trying to get on a DME bus about two hours earlier than anticipated.

Do I need to call DME to make sure that they know I am getting in 2 hours earlier, or am I OK with the way it is booked currently. I certainly would not want to have to wait at the airport for two hours just to get my DME ride to the resort. (Yes, I am pretty sure they wouldn't do that, but....LOL)

I don't think you would have a problem but since it is a new flight number your luggage might. I would give them a call to be sure.

You need to call them. There may not be a DME bus arriving a couple hours before your scheduled time.

Actually, with a 7:10am flight, DME will pick you up around 4am probably, and I think that might be before RAC opens, so you'll probably need to bring your bags on the bus with you.

Sorry for the confusion, but this is for my flight TO Orlando. I will be arriving on a different flight, two hours earlier than originally booked.

My return flight is at 8:10pm (12/11), so I won't have a problem there. I expect to be picked up at the resort around 5:00pm.

Oh, I didn't catch the arrival day. Arrival day you should be fine...

You should notify DME, especially since the flight number has changed.

If I understand the process correctly, they just look for the tags on your luggage. They pull the ones that are "ear" marked and load them on a truck accordingly. The DME bus check-in at the airport might need the new info. I don't know how they load the busses. Do they load until full or do they load for how many people are reserved for that particular bus?

I called yesterday and updated my inbound flight information. From what I was told, there would have been no problem, but I wanted to make sure that the bus check-in would allow me immediate travel to my resort.

I have done DME many times in the past, but this is the first time I had a flight change to an earlier flight.

All is good!! 21 days until WDW!!!
