How far out do you book your vacation?

How far in advance do most of you book your trip to Disney. We are planning our next trip for May 2014 and I already see that some rooms are not even available 8 months out. I was thinking at first to wait to see if some discounts come out for spring 2014 but now I am thinking book what I really want and then keep the fingers crossed.

Since we are DVC members we book our home resort exactly 11 months out...we will be booking in 9 days!!

We booked BC when the 2014 packages came out this July for our Oct-Nov 2014 trip. Thought about switching to YC but garden view for those dates already sold out and that's 13 1/2 months out. Go through Magical Journeys and they'll watch discounts for you

Because I am local, I do not often book very far out. Sometimes one of the options I want it not available but most of the time I've been able to get one of my top choices, but most of my trips are for less than a week.

This year I booked the Grand Floridian for Sept in April. I booked Coronado for Oct in August and I just booked Boardwalk for marathon weekend last week.

We typically book 6 mos out except for this year where I booked 3 1/2 mos out. Granted we usually go during value season so rooms are more available.

Usually only a couple of months out. I have done as little as the day before.

Usually about 6-9 months out. We have booked as little as a week out once.

We use the military discount and honestly have never had problems getting the resorts we have wanted. Sometimes I have had to "upgrade" the room type, but some kind of room within the resort we wanted has always been available even just 6 months out.

If staying onsite, I book whenever a special discount comes out. If no discount comes out, I don't stay onsite.

I book offsite about a year in advance. I watch for better rates and make changes if something comes along such as a good onsite promotion.

It depends on when we plan on going down. We use an online Disney specialist and book as soon as package prices are released. Our last trips were about nine months in advance. This trip is sixteen months.

We book as soon as the package rates come out. We are going in October and I booked it in August of 2012.

We usually book 5-6 months out or shortly after coming home from a trip. We just booked our February trip to AKL and Hilton head last month. :mickey:

We usually book 4-5 months out. I can not get my husband to plan much further in advance! (During our first trip together, during Spring Break, DH and I booked about 5 weeks out.)

I second (third, fourth?) the suggestion to use Magical Journeys.

I'll book as far out as possible....then as discounts arrive...and the always do..via pin or public..then I'll make the changes.

I have booked anywhere from as much as a year out to as little as a couple weeks. It just depends on the circumstances, deals, and who happens to be traveling with me.

I prefer 3-4 months. Whenever I book a year in advance, the anticipation is just too much! ;)
