DH & I are taking the girls - 3.5 yo back to WDW to get the most out of our APs and use our Jet Blue credits. Unfortunately the larger family did not have any available DVC points so we booked at POFQ. I am interested in getting more information about the resort: shopping, dining and room info. Can anyone help me? Any info is welcomed!!!

I personally love PO:FQ they only have one restaurant its QS Some will tell you the decor is a little crazy but i like the look. there is a TS restaurant at PO:R that i like . you have boat side access to downtown disney. There is one store its quaint has all the merchandise that all the other shops have. The rooms might feel a little small compared to the DVC rooms you are familiar with but i like them... any specific questions ill try to answer as best i can

We love POFQ!

It is a small, very quaint resort. It really feels like you're in New Orleans, with streets, sidewalks, houses and buildings. Nothing is too far away, and you do get the bonus of being able to use all of the facilities at POR, which is a much larger resort.

There is only a food court at POFQ. The food is good, but there is less variety than at larger resorts. DD and I ate over at POR a couple of times, for their "make your own pasta" that could easily feed 2 people.

The rooms were re-done in late 2010/early 2011, so are still fairly new and all have queen beds, instead of doubles.

The pool is good, fair size and the slide is fine. For younger kids, it is perfect size and speed.

There is a boat to DTD, which is a fun way to get there, and the boat can also be used to travel to and from POR. There is a TS restaurant at POR (only open for dinner), we enjoyed our meal there!

They do a nightly "movie on the lawn" too ... I think you'll like the resort.

I just booked 2 rooms/packages for our family plus FIL and BIL for next August. We were there in May 2009, it was our first time staying there, and absolutely loved it. Now I think all the rooms got a fresh upgrade (if not, then hopefully by the time we go).

The boatride to DTD and Riverside (if you choose to take, or you can just walk it) are really awesome and so unique to the resort. I love the theming and generally smaler size of the resort compared to the other moderates. Pool was pretty cool too, although we only went in it once on our last night there (got too much to do!)

Forgot to mention too about food. Food court I thought was quite good and the beignets are awesome. We only did breakfast and one lunch there. We ate at Boatwrights in Riverside our first night, and have to tell you, one of the best prime rib meals I've had. My FIL and I still talk about it to this day, that is why we are planning on going back now since we'll be there :eat:

The FQ is a great resort !! We have stayed at Riverside so many times, and with that, we always find our way over to eat at the FQ food court !! It's extremely good !! Shopping is made easy too, just hop on a boat and head to DtD ..... it's a fun and relaxing ride too !! Plus, if you tire of the FQ food, walk or ride a boat over to Riverside to try theirs.....

I stayed on a solo trip and agree that it is a very quaint resort. I went to New Orleans last year and I kept thinking of how much POFQ captured the feel.

I will agree that the food court is just OK - food is good, especially the beignets - it's just not a lot of variety. As others have said, you are just a boat ride away from DTD or Riverside, so there are many choices for you. I personally thing PORS food court is the best counter service of all of the resorts that I have stayed.

The bus transporation can be great or maddening - depends on the day and destination. Sometimes we got a direct transfer to and from, other times it seemed like we were touring the great state of Florida before getting to our destination. Did not use the pool, but it looked great for the kids.

Haven't been back there, but only because we need 5 in a room now.

I've stayed there a few times and really do like it. Love the small size - everything is close no matter which building you're in. Nice pool and love the pool bar too. The shop is nice and the food court has what you need although I do not usually eat anything but breakfast at a resort.

With POFQ and POR being sister resorts, you can use the facilities at both and the walk between the two is great.

Enjoy!

I just returned from a five day stay at POFQ.
We loved the room and the staff coudln't have been friendlier. The rooms are nice sized and clean. However, the bussing is awful. To get to Epcot seemed to take hours. The busses do not come there often enough and then they stop at Riverside bus stops also. Although I liked the resort, I wouldn't stay there again due to the bussing unless I had a rental car.

I <3 POFQ! We didn't have problems with the busses, in fact during the AM rush there was always a bus monitor there to help make sure a bus was coming as needed. Our busses were hardly ever full and we seldom went to Riverside, just when our bus needed more people. Enjoy!

POR Riverside and PORQ..is WDW best moderates i believe.
They both are great. We may stay at PORQ next visit in 2015. Last time we did POR Riverside/A.B.

We loved it both times we were there. My younger daughter especially is a fish and really loved the pool and the slide with it's great theming. We also ventured over to POR for some time at their pool. The compact size makes it easy to reach the buses quick. We would stay again but have always wanted to try WL so that's our next plan. Enjoy!

There's only 1 pool at Port Orleans French Quarter. You can use the pools over at Port Orleans Riverside.

There's only a food court; there's no table service restaurant at Port Orleans French Quarter. I wasn't that impressed with the food court, though it's been a few years since we've stayed there.

I loved staying here. As others have mentioned you have access to everything at Riverside as well. I thought the CS food court was pretty good. Loved the beignets. We didn't really have any real issues with the buses. Love taking the nice boat ride to DTD.
And since it's a small property, it was a quick walk to your room at the end of the night.
