So we wanted to leave MK for dinner. We have done this in the past for Whispering Canyon and we love the short boat ride, and the food. This time, we booked Chef Mickeys since it is close and it gives a reason to ride the monorail. I just read another post where someone was taking a boat to the Backyard BBQ. So, is there a boat that goes from MK to the Backyard BBQ? If so, is that better than Chef Mickey's? We want to get back to the park in a reasonable amount of time as well.

There is a boat that takes you to Mickey's Backyard BBQ. It is at Fort Wilderness Campground.

Personally, we like the character interaction at Chef Mickey's. You don't get a show like at the BBQ, but you get more time with each character. The BBQ can be pretty packed in, and it is close quarters. However, there is a cheaper alternative with some character interaction...

One of our favourite things is to take the boat from MK to Fort Wilderness Campground, eat at the Trails End Buffet (no characters, but it is a small but very good buffet), go for a short walk to see the big Belgian and Clydesdale horses (big barn near the Trails End) and then for a longer walk to check out the big RVs and motorhomes. We end up at Chip and Dale's Campfire sing-a-long for smores!! You get to see Chip and Dale for free! After the campfire they have a free movie. It is a great time and much cheaper than Chef Mickey's or the BBQ.

Have a great time whatever you decide to do!!! :mickey:
