Drive from Punta Gorda

Anyone out there who can tell me about how long of a drive it is from Punta Gorda airport to DW? Looking at airfare for possible upcoming trip and I can get a lot better price flying into Punta Gorda. Of course, that would mean renting a car, no Magical Express, etc. Anyone else done this? Recommend this? Concerns doing this?

I figure it would be around 2-1/2 hours. You are about an hour south of Tampa and then it is over an hour from Tampa to Disney World.

Have you looked at flying into Tampa, it would be a closer option, that is of course if you are planning on staying in the Port Charlotte area.

For me, saving money on the flights wouldn't be worth it since I would have quite a long drive on either end.
