I'll update this first post each day with the forecast (though I'll occasionally miss a day), both long and short term. As a general rule, up to 7 days is a pretty accurate forecast, beyond that it's educated guessing and largely dependent upon how well the models are doing at that moment, which is why I call it "voodooland." If you have any specific weather questions or comments, even if it's for an area other than WDW, please post and I'll answer throughout the thread. I'll also post weather tidbits every so often. If you want to see the exact conditions for your travel dates over the last few years, go to our historic weather page in Info Central here (http://www.intercot.com/infocentral/weather/dailytemps.asp). Without further delay, let's get to the forecast:

Weather at WDW - Update Wednesday pm, July 31, 2013
The high is working towards 91-92 for today. Tomorrow should be 90-92 with a good chance of a thunderstorm. Friday through Wednesday look for 92-94 with rain chances down to around 30%. The storms will definitely be more scattered which will allow the temps to creep up slightly.

Long range...Aug 8-16 continues the same pattern we've had all summer with highs in the low 90s and a better than normal chance of afternoon thunderstorms.

Travel Impact :plane: :truck: :drive:
At 1:00 pm CDT, Atlanta has some minor delays due to thunderstorms. For tomorrow, the best chance of travel problems will be around KS, NE, IA, and MO.

Any of you who are nervous about flying, especially related to turbulence, go here (http://homepage.mac.com/lesposen/iblog/B80495344/C2128971884/E162746321/index.html) and here (http://homepage.mac.com/lesposen/iblog/B80495344/C2128971884/index.html) to learn a lot about turbulence. Those two articles should be very helpful in allowing you to understand turbulence and flight safety when it hits. Hopefully all of this will help you relax and enjoy the trip to WDW more!

Tropics :fan:
The remnants of Dorian are now completely gone and everything else is quiet.

Chris,

Need your professional opinion. We are planning to leave early Saturday morning to drive to Disney from Philly. We are planning to stay at Flagler Beach Saturday night and leave for Disney 7am Sunday. Do you think we should alter these plans due to the tropical storm? Is there somewhere inland Fl to stay Sat night? Or would you recommend leaving earlier. The storm doesn't bother us but the timing seems particularly bad for us. We left Disney last October to come home to Hurricane Sandy in Philly. Getting sick of these storms!

Thanks,
Beth

Beth, I would say hang tight with your plans right now. There is still some uncertainty on the track of TS Chantal. The NHC is keeping it east of Florida, going over the Bahamas. The late 00z GFS model took the storm over Florida (still as a TS, not a hurricane) on Sunday or Monday. However, the 06z run keeps in line with the Euro and NHC thoughts and keeps the storm east of Florida. So I wouldn't make any changes to your plans at the moment and I really wouldn't worry about it too much. There's a lot of dry air around the storm that should keep it from getting too strong and it's going to interact with the islands in the Caribbean. I'll update this afternoon after we get all the afternoon model runs in and we'll see what it looks like then.

I don't think you'll need it with Dorian, but for future reference, here's Disney's tropical storm policy:
