Daughters surgery update.

As you know from my previous post my dd24 had thyroid surgery. We got the biopsy results today and she has cancer. She will start radiation treatments in 4 to 6 weeks. They say that it has a high rate of success. Still very scary and I hate to see what I know she will have to go through. We are going to DL in Sept. and one of her first thoughts was if it would mess our trip up. She is so looking forward to going.. Again asking for your prayers and pixie dust.. Thanks

My sister was diagnosed with thyroid cancer about two years ago. Really, of all cancers to get it's probably the best one because there is such a high recovery rate. Because the thyroid is the only organ in the body that absorbs iodine they removed the thyroid and then she was treated with radioactive iodine which then killed off any other thyroid cells that might have been missed. They monitored her for a year and after a year was up she was 'cured' and no longer needed to worry about cancer coming back.
