Later this year, my in laws will be treating my family to a Disney vacation. We are staying at Bonnet Creek. My FIL really wants to go golfing one morning, and I told him I would do some research. I understand Disney has their own courses, but I was curious about others that may be close by. Has anyone played much golf while vacationing in WDW? I'm looking for an enjoyable course. We are not scratch folders, and don't want to spend half our day looking for our golf balls. We will be down in November and want to get out early so it shouldn't be too hot. Thanks in advance.

All of the Disney courses are top notch and a real joy to play. Palm and Magnolia are my favorites, but you can't go wrong with any of them. As for losing balls - the fairways are generally pretty wide and that's not a huge issue. Now, if you give a big hook or slice the ball is gone. There's lots of water on any course in Florida, and the Disney courses are no exception. Usually it's water on one side and woods on the other, but, again, the fairways are wide enough you have to hit a pretty bad shot to lose your ball. I'm not a scratch golfer and have a blast with those courses. As for other courses close by, there are a few, but going off-property won't save you much money and the Disney courses are some of the best in quality.

Chris- thanks for the quick reply. I wonder if they accept Disney gift cards? This might be a great Father's Day gift.

I'm pretty sure they do. You can call and check but I seem to remember that they accept the gift cards.

My DH loves golfing at Disney. We usually don't travel with his clubs however, and he has to rent them, which drives him crazy. I've gone along to be the cart driver on occasion, and the courses are stunning. The wildlife is awesome! I'd stay on-site and enjoy the fantastic courses (Magnolia is the favorite) that Disney has to offer.

We are heading down the first week of November. It's looking like we are going to get in 2 rounds. Monday morning at the Magnolia and Friday morning at the Palm or vice versa. Thanks for everyone's help.
