I am staying off property for the first time ever. We plan on driving to the park most days even though our hotel offers a free shuttle.

Does the parking pass allow you to come and go from the park as your please?

What does everyone recommend as far as where to park for the day? Does each park have its own lot? Or one central lot and then take bus/monorail to whatever park.

You only need to pay for parking once each day. If you move to another park or leave and return, just show your receipt to regain entry without having to pay again.

Each park has its own lot. If you are visiting multiple parks in a day, you might want to park at the lot for the last park of the day and transport from there.

When parking at the Magic Kingdom lot (Transportation and Ticket Center), you will need to take either the ferry or the monorail to the park itself.

:ditto:

Each park (and waterpark) has its own parking lot. If you're going to be park-hopping it can be easier to park at the last park of the day and use Disney transport between the parks, since it is often faster than driving and parking.

If you do decide to drive, quite often there are spots way closer to the front of the parking lot, even if CM's are directing you to a spot further out in the lot. (this can be a huge advantage if you can walk to the entrance, instead of needing to take the tram).
