Off property hotel??

I was looking a few booking sites and they sometimes offer "secret" hotel offers that are way cheaper than the normal prices you see on hotels. My question is has anyone booked one of these hotels not knowing what hotel it will be, but know they are in the general area of what you want? Just curious :confused:

Oh and if you have. Did it turn out good or bad??

I did it in both Atlanta and NYC and have been happy with the result. I specified the stars and area (as specific as I could). I did it once for WDW (last minute 1 night stay everything was booked at values) was not happy with that one at all. Thank goodness I did not pay more than I did (it was peak season) it was near DTD. It was able to meet my criteria for stars because of the amenities, which really didn't even qualify in my book either, (just because there was a Subway on site)not cleanliness or upkeep of the hotel. :(
