The prosecuter of the county I live in has indicted Puxatawny Phil on felony charges of lying to the american public about spring starting early! He is seeking the death penalty for Phil. I heard this on the news this morning and got a chuckle.. now it appears to be all over the national news. How would you vote if you were on the jury? Is Phil guilty of lying? Should he be put to death for it? Or is there a conspiracy by Jack Frost and Frosty the snowman wanting to keep winter around as long as they can and they set poor Phil up to take the fall.... :D

He didn't lie for my area. It has been an early spring for us. The flowers are in bloom and temps between 60-90 degrees.

Long live Phil.

If you give Phil the death penalty, what are you going to do with all the human weather prognosticators? They are wrong as often, if not more so, than Phil!!! :D

Not condoning death penalty, but I think it's time we retired the groundhog.

Don't blame Phil. That's what folks get for listening to an oversized rat for their weather.

I'm pretty sure there's a certain fellow rodent (:mickey:) who would want Phil spared.

Maybe retire Phil to Florida, where his prognostications really wouldn't matter a bit. :sun:

I was just asking a girl at work the other day if phil saw his shaddow. Phil is most definitely guilty of lieing but the death penalty may be too much. But he may need to be replaced next year. Lol

It's not poor Phil's fault. The blame should rest solely on that mean old fat guy who reaches in there and grabs poor old Phil out of his nice warm bed if he wants to come out or not.:D

Not so fast :stop: Since NJ is closer to Staten Island than PA I tend to go with the predictions of SI Chuck. He too predicted early spring and based on a first grade class at PS29 the furry ones were correct.

From SILive

P.S. 29 first graders record temperatures since Staten Island Chuck's February 2nd prediction of an early Spring. While many feel Staten Island had more Winter than an early Spring, the record showed 24 days above 40 degrees and 21 days below 40 degrees–technically an early Spring.

A few years ago, Phil's Canadian cousin, Wiarton Willie, actually died just before he was to come out and make his prognostication.

Maybe he just couldn't face the pressure one more time...
