We are going to WDW in May. My husband shouldn't be standing in lines for a long time so his doctor suggested getting a medical pass. Can this work for shows as well as rides?

:welcome: to Intercot!!

The GAC (Guest Assistant Card) works differently with different shows and rides. There is not a "front of the line" pass. Sometimes they take you through a different entrance, sometimes through the Fastpass line, etc. It works differently depending on the need. Go to guest services when you arrive at any park and you can get a GAC. They'll ask you a few questions to determine your needs and to help you best.

If you husband can't stand for long periods you might consider getting him a scooter. You can take those through most lines and they're very handy for people who can't stand very long.

The GAC won't do much good for shows. The only accommodations that the shows have are wheelchair accessible seats, which there is a separate queue up area for. Which shows are you concerned about? I have never had a problem showing up 5 or 10 min before show time and getting a great seat.

Also, for your husband's particular issue, a wheelchair/ECV is best. Although a GAC can provide an alternate waiting area for rides, the majority of those alternate areas do NOT have seats available.

The wheelchair/ECV would come in handy on a lot of occasions, when prolonged standing is a problem. Think about waiting in lines for CS restaurants, restrooms, buses, boats, monorails, etc. There are not always benches where you need them.
