Ok, for those who take to the road a la I-95 to the land of the mouse I have a dining related question....we are anticipating stopping for dinner towards the southern end of N. Carolina or the beginning of S. Carolina. There are the rest stop usuals (always made a point of hitting up the ol' Cracker Barrel) but has anyone gone slightly - and just slightly - off grid and found a local eating spot worth a few extra miles?
Almost tried River City Buffet in Lumberton last trip but some mixed reviews on-line nixed that one.

We always hit the Cracker Barrels, so I'm afraid we're no use to you!! I'm curious to see what everyone else says! :mickey:

Here is a great site to check out:

http://www.i95exitguide.com/

They list what restaurants are off what exits, though I don't know how up to date the list is.. I usually check it for construction/traffic updates and general exit information...

When I drive I-95, I stop over night in Manning, SC... While there, staying usually at Ramada Inn Express, I take a quick walk over to Wendy's, though I am sure you are looking for some place better.. LOL...

Thanx for the site Freak - I had a I-95 guidebook that's now nowhere to be found but I had to get it 5-6 years ago....

And hey, I'd never turn down a Baconater in a pinch!

If you are a member of AAA, they used to have guide books, not sure they do anymore.. But I always ordered then, free of charge from AAA... Always got the mid-Atlantic states, since those are the states I-95 covers... Very good books...

I have to check AAA out again to see if those books are still available... Great information in them... That is how I found the Ramada inn Express in Manning...

I forget exactly where it is but we like Texas Steakhouse.
If I remember, I will get the address from my GPS and post later.
Good food, decent prices.
Close to the exit.

If you like bbq, there's a great local place in Wilson, NC. It's Parker's Barbecue. It's not too far off of I-95. We have had friends stop here and raved about it!

My DH has been dying to try it the past 2 trips to the beach in SC! Hopefully, this year!!

Resist the temptation...do not stop at South of the Border!

Chain lodging and eating at Fayetteville, NC, Lumberton, NC, and Florence, SC exits...

My choice would be Lumberton...more compact, and closer to I-95...

....we're also from Jersey ...but we end up substantially farther south at the end of our 1st day of driving. We're in Georgia by 6-7pm (Brunswick, Ga.)...and have found several decent places to eat there (and yes ...one of them is a Cracker Barrel).
