Jan. 10, 1999 – The “Horizon’s Pavilion” in Future World at Epcot officially closed and will be replaced by “Mission Space.”
Jan. 10, 2000 – The Buena Vista Television series “The Ainsley Harriot Show” starring the British chef extraordinaire began airing. (Ended Sept. 15, 2000)
Jan. 10, 2001 - Disneyland Paris welcomed its 100 millionth guest, Stefan and Andrea Seyffardt and their daughters Lisa, and Marie from Germany.
Jan. 10, 2003 – The Disney Channel Original Movie “You Wish!” premiered. Jan. 10, 1999 - Elton John and LeAnn Rimes performed “Written In The Stars”, from Disney’s Broadway Show “AIDA”, at the 25th Annual People’s Choice Awards.
Jan. 10, 2005 – The “Celebrate Mickey: 75 InspEARations” goes on display at the Disneyland Resort. (Runs through Feb. 22)
Jan. 10, 2006 – The soundtrack to Disney Channel’s “High School Musical” was released. (It would debut at number 143 on the Billboard 200, selling 6,469 copies in the first week.)
Jan. 10, 2008 – The Walt Disney World Resort transitioned its Kennel program to “Best Friends PetCare Inc.” on this day.
Jan. 10, 2008 – Disney’s newest Broadway production “The Little Mermaid” had its official opening night at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre.
Jan. 10, 2010 – The late Roy E. Disney was honored (on what would have been his 80th birthday) at a memorial service at Hollywood’s El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood, Ca.
Jan. 10, 2011 – The Visual effects Society announced the nominees for the 9th Annual VES Awards ceremony recognizing outstanding visual effects artistry in film, animation, television, commercials and video games. Among the Disney nominees were: “Tron Legacy” and “Alice in Wonderland”, “Prep and Landing: Operation Secret Santa,” “Tangled” and “Toy Story 3,” and “Rapunzel.”
