Disneyland on 4th of July?

We're going to Disneyland the week of July 4th. Is that the busiest time of the year? Should we avoid the parks on the 4th? Would it be better to go earlier in the week?

It's definitely not the busiest time of the year.

Actually, you'll find crowds lessened significantly on that day, in particular. Most APs are blocked out (except the Premiums) and many locals hit the beach or stay home on the 4th for neighborhood block parties and such.

We were there on July 2 of 2011 and it was exceptionally manageable.

Don't worry about it. It will be crowded, yes, but not suffocatingly so.

I agree that as a general rule while the 4th of July and the days surrounding it can be crowded, it is a manageable crowd. Nothing compared to the month of August, which I have always found to be Super Crowded.
