I know you buy separate tickets for the MVMCP, but do you need your park ticket along with your MVMCP ticket to show at the same time. We do not intend to go to the MK early that day, only go to the party. Thanks.

No, you don't. You can use your MVMCP ticket to get in starting at 4 pm. The party doesn't start until 7 but WDW has generally let people in with just party tickets at 4. That's always subject to change, but I seriously doubt the policy will go away.
