from Disney Parks Blog

The Candlelight Ceremony and Processional has been a Disneyland Resort tradition since 1958, bringing holiday magic to Main Street, U.S.A., with the help of celebrities like Cary Grant, John Wayne, Dick Van Dyke and, in 2011, Gary Sinise.

This holiday season – for the first time in its history – the Candlelight Ceremony and Processional is being extended to a total of 20 nights at Disneyland park, with two performances each night. The first two nights, December 1-2, will be invitation-only events; however, performances from December 3-20 will be open to Disneyland Resort Annual Passholders and guests booking special, to-be-announced dining packages for the 2012 holiday season.

The Candlelight Ceremony and Processional is a beautiful evening performance of beloved holiday music and the telling of the first Christmas Story in Town Square on Main Street, U.S.A. The first performance was in 1958 and has continued every year since. These classic performances touched off another tradition at the Walt Disney World Resort – the popular Candlelight Processional at Epcot.

More details on Passholder registration and dining package bookings to follow, as they become available.

WOW! That's fantastic. I saw it once with Dick Van Dyke and it was amazing. I hated standing for hours leading up to it though. Now, with the reservations, maybe it will make it easier to view.

What a bummer that we won't be going this year.

Chose to use our invitation to last night's (12/12/12) Candlelight Ceremony. It became misty about 20 minutes before the 5:30 show time. At about 5:30 it was announced that there was a delay but that the show would begin shortly. Roughly 10 minutes later it was announced that the show was cancelled due to inclimate weather. Shouts of "NO!" went up throughout the crowd, followed by confusion, disbelief, anger, crying, and throngs of people trying to either move out of the area or go in search of "someone in charge". And to top it off, by this time, there was not a bit of dampness in the air.

We were disappointed to say the least. The whole purpose of our visit that day was for this show and I'm sure most people attending would say the same thing.

In the end we lucked out and got seated for the 7:30 showing which went on as scheduled. Our seats weren't nearly as good as earlier, but we were just glad to be there at this point. They did make one momentary pause in the presentation, about 3/4 of the way through, due to misty conditions. Don't really know how that little pause helped and from comments made by Dick Van Dyke while we waited I don't think he did either. But in the end it was a beautiful program and I feel lucky that we were able to attend. I'm hoping for the sake of those attending today that the weather clears up because it has been raining non stop down here in San Diego for at least ten hours.

Glad you ended up getting to see the 7:30 performance! Our tickets are for Sunday, 7:30 and from watching the news the last couple of days, there's supposed to be a chance of rain. :(

We will be there Sunday as well. With the chance of rain, I woud opt out. We are going with friends and they have special tickets good only on the 16th. We will not be going to the CP though.
