I have been looking for a fulfilling part time position for about two years. I have an MSW and have worked inpatient psych, spent 10 years home with the kids, taught preschool for a couple of years when the youngest went to school and then, somehow, was the Sales and Marketing
Director for seveal years at a senior community. I quit that job in 2009. I started looking off and on and was offered three differant jobs that just were not for me. I have been looking in earnest for the last year and this litterally fell in my lap. Love it when that happens. I happened to catch the ONE running advertisment for a job fair. One of the positions was for a part time activites assistant in a senior community. It is very close to the house and it has a great reputation. I thought it might be a good fit so I went to the fair. It has been hard to even get an interview for the positions I have applied for. Out of the 50 or so resumes I sent out, I had two responses. Maybe a job fair would get me face to face. Well, I was interviewed that afternoon and was told that they were interested in me and wanted me to meet the director. She was very buzy that day because of the fair and they said they would call.
One week passed. Another week passed. Another week passed and I am thinking that I need to send them a note thanking them for their time but it obviously wasn't happening. They finally called. Good thing I didn't send the note! I start in two weeks. I am grateful to have found this job. It has been an intimdating and difficult chore to find one. If you are looking, don't give up hope!
