July 29, 1998 – “The Parent Trap” (a remake of the 1961 Disney film starring Hayley Mills) was released.
July 29, 1999 – WDW’s Rock’n’RollerCoaster soft opened to guests. Its official opening is August 1, 1999.
July 29, 2000 – To mark the 1st anniversary of the Rock’n’RollerCoaster, WDW took 80 corvettes and formed the signature guitar in the MGM Studios parking lot.
July 29, 2002 – The Tampa Bay Buccaneers, with head coach John Gruden began their 1st summer training camp at Disney’s Wide World of Sports Complex.
July 29, 2003 – Disney’s animated “Piglet’s Big Move” was released on DVD.
July 29, 2005 – The Disney movie “Sky High,” starring Kurt Russell, Kelly Preston and Lynda Carter, was released.
July 29, 2005 – The family stage show “Disney Live! Winnie the Pooh” launched a U.S. Tour in Ft. Lauderdale, Fl. The new interactive and three-dimensional production was produced by Field Entertainment, Inc.
July 29, 2007 – Disney’s Broadway musical “Beauty and the Beast” had its final performance at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre in N.Y.C.
July 29, 2007 – The Disney-owned Power Rangers began a 15-city tour in San Diego in celebration of their 15th anniversary.
July 29, 2008 – A 5.8 magnitude earthquake located near Chino Hills (just east of Los Angeles, Ca.) struck at 11:45am, resulting in the evacuation of all attractions at the Disneyland Resort.
